Althia receives ENAC Accreditation for its technical competence and diagnostic laboratory in Pathology and Molecular Pathology
The National Accreditation Body (ENAC) has granted accreditation to Althia Health, SL (Althia) in recognition of the quality and technical competence according to the criteria in the UNE-EN ISO 15189:2007, for testing of Pathology and Molecular Pathology.
Althia is the first accredited laboratory in Spain in accordance with the UNE-EN ISO 15189 in immunohistochemistry (IHC) and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH). The scope of such clearance is for the determination of HER2 protein overexpression by immunohistochemistry (IQ) and HER2 gene amplification by FISH in breast cancer tissue.

Overexpression of HER2 is crucial to evaluate prior to treatment if certain antitumor drugs are effective or not, mainly in breast and gastric cancers. More information about HER2 in Althia’s website (

Accreditation UNE-EN ISO 15189 ensures, unlike the ISO 9001 certification for quality management, technical expertise and management as a laboratory or technical entity.
