On the upcoming 28th of November, the University of Barcelona, the Bosch i Gimpera Bosch Foundation, the Scientific and Technological Centers of the UB and the Parc Científic de Barcelona will organize the first edition of 'Networking & Innovation Day' (NID). The objective of this initiative is to create a meeting point in the transfer of knowledge between research and business.

The conference, which will be held at the auditorium of the PCB, is aimed at the business community and the national and international scientific community, and especially at the agents of the University of Barcelona research and innovation system and the entrepreneurial sector that the UB Group generates.

NID was born with the purpose of serving as a catalyst for synergies between industry and academia and research community, to promote collaborative projects that meet the scientific and technological needs of a wide range of sectors, such as health and biotechnology , materials and nanotechnology, electronics, optics and ICTs, chemistry and cosmetics, energy and environment, food and agriculture, among others.

The opening ceremony of the Networking & Innovation Day will be attended by Dídac Ramírez, rector of the UB; Antoni Castellà, secretary for Universities and Research of the Ministry of Economy and Knowledge of the Generalitat de Catalunya; Gerard Ardanuy, councillor for Education and Universities at the Barcelona City Council; Salvador Alemany, president of the Social Council of the UB; and Salvador Maluquer, director of the PCB. Xavier Marcet, general director of LTC Project, will deliver the plenary lecture.

The conference will feature two panel discussions on the University of Barcelona as a driver of innovation, and open innovation as a future investment to explore new forms of university-industry collaboration. Pre-scheduled partnering meetings will also be held alongside by prior arrangement via a specific platform: www.fbg.ub.edu/nid.
