Rice field
Spanish biotechnology company BiorizonBiotech is moving forward with the implementation of its Nueva Agricultura project, launched in September 2016 and aimed at the economic and social development of the community of Madina, in the northern district of Kambia, Sierra Leone. About 300 adults and about 70 children currently live in Madina. Everyone participates and benefits from this project.
The next objectives of the Andalusian company, based in the Technological Park of Almeria, go through the creation of an agricultural school to train people, to get a tractor with its complementary elements for field work, and the construction of a well of supply to be able to create an irrigation system for the rice fields.
In addition to the ongoing work to create an agricultural infrastructure based on rice cultivation, it has been decided to promote the creation of mixed teams of soccer children and help them to adapt a field so that they can practice sport. The Spanish firm has already delivered 200 T-shirts and 10 soccer balls for 25 children between 6 and 12 years old and their families.
