Microomics is hiring a Bioinformatician/ Data analyst
We are looking for a new team member, this time we seek for a Bioinformatician/Data analyst. We are a young spin-off company of CRG (Centre for Genomic Regulation) and ICREA (Institución Catalana para la Investigación y Estudios Avanzados) expert in genomics and metagenomics solutions created to answer novel and traditional questions in areas such as Health Care, Life Sciences, Agriculture, Food Industry and Environmental Industry. We combine computational and molecular biology tools with high throughput sequencing to set up and develop technologies to transform genomic data into knowledge.
The candidate will play a transversal role, providing assistance to several ongoing projects by the development and maintenance of analysis pipelines and databases. The person will be responsible for the bioinformatics analysis of raw sequencing data of various types and of the development of databases for data mining and knowledge discovery processes. In addition he/she will be involved in several R+D projects and will assist in reporting results to customers. The person in this position will integrate a multidisciplinary team and will collaborate with other members of the company, he/she will directly report to the COO and responsable of the bioinformatics department.
We are looking for a candidate with a background in Bioinformatics or related disciplines (Degree in Bioinformatics, Biology, Computer Science with a Masters in Bioinformatics). The candidate will have sufficient knowledge to set up and run pipelines for genomics and metagenomics data analysis. Programming skills in python, R, or related languages and knowledge of the Linux environment are essential. Additional skills awill be: IT administration knowledge, database development and a good level of spoken and written English.
