BTI leads the scientific production of Spanish bio-companies for the seventh consecutive year

This is the seventh consecutive year that the Vitoria-based biotech company has been ranked number one in scientific production in Spain

On 7th July, the Spanish Association of Bio-companies (AseBio) made public the AseBio 2021 Annual Report, which covers the situation and trends in the biotechnology sector in Spain. The presentation of the report took place at the ICEX headquarters in Madrid.

In the section referring to the production of scientific knowledge by Spanish companies, BTI Biotechnology Institute stands out as the Spanish company with the highest number of publications in scientific journals of impact, 31 in total, followed by the company MSD with 21 publications and the laboratories Grifols and Almirall with 20 publications each.

The data collected in the 2021 Report continues to show BTI Biotechnology Institute as one of the Spanish companies with the greatest dedication and involvement in R&D, as this is the seventh consecutive year in which the Vitoria-based biotech company is ranked as the number one company in scientific production in Spain.

According to Dr. Eduardo Anitua, founder and scientific director of BTI who was recently awarded with the National Innovation Prize, “Since its foundation, BTI has been firmly committed to R&D as a tool for finding new solutions in the field of biomedicine that contribute to improving the quality of life of many people. Being ranked at the top once again in the AseBio Report on the scientific production of Spanish bio-companies is recognition of the research and development work that we have been carrying out for more than 20 years”.
