AI in Drug Developement: Transforming Drug Discovery and Repurposing
Drug discovery has traditionally followed slow and costly processes. With the advent of artificial intelligence (AI), research times and costs are being significantly reduced.
This webinar will showcase two companies that apply AI to different technologies in drug discovery and drug repositioning processes, aiming to present them as examples for other companies looking to improve and optimize their own processes. The presentations will cover data sources, result validation, challenges and limitations, as well as the bioethical considerations that each has taken into account.
First, the ZeCardioAI platform will be introduced. This platform integrates phenotypic and transcriptomic data from zebrafish disease models for dilated cardiomyopathies, along with disease-relevant information from public sources, into a custom knowledge graph for drug discovery. This approach allows the application of graph data science methods to discover new therapeutic targets, which are then validated using the zebrafish model and the ZeCardio2.0 evaluation platform.
Second, Owkin will explain how it leverages advanced data and AI to revolutionize oncology research, transforming vast datasets into precise, actionable insights. Starting with MOSAIC, the world’s largest spatial multiomics dataset in oncology, Owkin’s approach integrates diverse layers of patient data into a comprehensive view through advanced histology AI models. This enables the identification of specific patient subgroups most likely to benefit from targeted therapies, bringing precision to treatment approaches. The process culminates in an “explainable layer” that defines clear inclusion and exclusion criteria, making complex AI findings both accessible and actionable.
