AseBio Journalism Awards
At AseBio, we believe that it is important to leverage an international event like BIOSPAIN 2023, which brings innovative biotechnology solutions under the scrutiny of over 2,000 attendees, to promote scientific communication. Alongside Biocat, co-organizers of the conference this year, we aim to highlight examples of the excellent scientific journalism produced in our country and reward journalists who give a voice to the work of the Spanish biotechnology sector.
Since 2020, scientific and health-related information has dominated screens, political debates, social media, and newspaper headlines due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Science has become a primary topic among friends, on bar terraces, or during family walks. People have started to view the world and the healthcare system with a critical eye and become more aware of their surroundings on a global scale. We can say that, since then, society has learned what a vaccine is, what immunity means, how an antigen test is conducted, how a PCR is performed, and the benefits of wearing a mask on public transportation or in school classrooms. In essence, people now know more about science, biotechnology, and its resilient and transformative capacity to move towards a shared goal: a healthier and more sustainable future.
At AseBio, we want to solidify this trend, and we believe it's important to leverage an international event like BIOSPAIN 2023, which places innovative biotechnology solutions under the scrutiny of over 2,000 attendees, to promote scientific communication. Alongside Biocat, co-organizers of this year's conference, we want to highlight examples of the excellent scientific journalism produced in our country and reward journalists who give a voice to the work of the Spanish biotechnology sector during the days of September 26th, 27th, and 28th in Barcelona.
BIOSPAIN 2023 will be a complete showcase of how scientific research can become a tangible response for society and, therefore, news.
We are confident that this year will be the perfect stage to showcase the excellent science, technology, and innovation produced in the country, and that's why we want to reward the two best journalistic pieces (television, radio, or written press) covering the event itself, as well as all the knowledge that the biotechnology sector will share within the walls of Fira de Barcelona.
This is also an opportunity to pick up the thread of AseBio's Communication Awards, which was paused in 2017, and together celebrate the Seventh Edition.
